Share a diagram
Sharing in Mermaid works in two directions: you can send someone a view-only link, or give them access to edit. You can also generate a live SVG link for embedding — it updates automatically when the diagram changes.
Share a live link
Viewers with the link see the rendered diagram. No Mermaid account required to view.
- Open a diagram in the editor.
- Click Share in the toolbar.
- Set access — Private, Anyone with the link can view, or Anyone with the link can edit.
- Copy the link and share it.
On Premium plans, viewer seats are unlimited — share freely without worrying about seat costs. On Plus, viewers use view & comment collaboration. Compare plans →
Share an SVG link
For embedding in external tools or websites, generate a live SVG link — the rendered diagram at a stable URL that updates automatically when the source diagram changes.
- Click Share.
- Select SVG link.
- Copy the URL and embed it wherever you need it.
Useful for embedding in Notion, internal wikis, or any tool that accepts an image URL.
Invite a teammate to collaborate
- Click Share.
- Enter your teammate’s email address.
- Set their permission — view or edit.
- Click Send invite.
They’ll receive an email with a link to the diagram. Edit access lets them open the diagram in the editor and make changes.
Real-time collaboration
On Premium plans, multiple people can edit the same diagram simultaneously. Changes from all editors appear in real time — no refreshing, no merging versions.
On Plus, teammates can view and comment but not co-edit.
Comments
Click Comments to add comments to any diagram. Comments are visible in both the editor and the Visual Editor and are useful for async feedback — flag a section for review, ask a question, or leave context for a teammate.
Common questions
-
My viewer needs an account to see the diagram. Check that the share setting is set to Anyone with the link can view, not Private. Private diagrams require the viewer to be signed in and have explicit access.
-
The SVG link isn’t updating after I edited the diagram. SVG links reflect the published state of the diagram. Make sure you’ve saved — diagrams save automatically, but confirm the latest version is live before sharing the link.
-
I want to share without giving edit access. Set permissions to view when inviting or set the link to Anyone with the link can view. Viewers can see the diagram but can’t make changes.
